We first met Ron in Bahrain in the early 1980s when our two families traveled to the Sheikh's Beach from Manama; if my memory is correct the journey was done crammed into our Nissan Sunny. We met on occasions in Bahrain before we were redeployed to Dubai. We seemed to follow a geographically parallel course during the 1990’s when I moved on to Abu Dhabi during the time that, I believe, Ron assisted in the preparation of the Bank ABC annual reports. In July 2019 Sheila and I met Ron and Gill at Oxburgh Hall in Norfolk and had a very pleasant time catching up on the last couple of decades. During our conversations I learnt of the research Ron had done into my mother’s family tree, which identified the links between my family and my cousins. Ron’s calm and well-considered remarks were a hallmark of him and he was as perceptive in his statements at our last meeting in 2019 as when we first met in the early 1980s – a very nice gentleman.
